Crisis Response Services

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Redwood Community Crisis Services is the sole provider of emergency crisis response in Mendocino County. RCS provides intervention services to everyone, regardless of insurance. This includes emergency mental health, evaluation, assessments, intervention, aftercare and follow-up services. These services are often the first step in a person’s journey, as we evaluate psychiatric symptoms and refer to additional services if needed. Recovering from crisis is hardly ever easy and we will be with you every step of the way. Services are provided to children, youth, adults and their families.

24/7 Crisis Hotline
Redwood Community Crisis Services provides a 24/7 toll free number for anyone in Mendocino County experiencing a mental health emergency. That number is 1-(855)-838-0404.

Crisis Intervention
Our certified staff provide crisis intervention services throughout Mendocino County. Crisis intervention services include assessment, diagnosis, and risk assessment as well as planning for future mental health needs.

Aftercare
Following the initial crisis intervention, a 60-day short-term treatment plan may be developed in order to ensure safety and stability of the presenting mental health crisis for low-income & Medi-Cal beneficiaries while long-term referrals are established. Mental health services may include case management, therapy, rehabilitation, or collateral.

Phoenix House works to provide a positive, short-term alternative for persons experiencing a mental health emergency or a period of intense emotional distress in which without support may result in an inpatient psychiatric stay. Using evidence-based treatment models, our mental health services ensure that the identified objectives are in alignment with the philosophy of harm reduction and trauma informed care, are strengths-based, and highlight diversity and the strengthening of relationships.Phoenix House helps people recover and stabilize in order to transition back to the community after experiencing a mental health crisis. Services are provided as an alternative to hospitalization and are available to consumers experiencing an acute psychiatric episode or crisis. The program’s objectives are to:

•STABILIZE the crisis in the least restrictive manner
•MINIMIZE further trauma
•PROMOTE a safe, structured, and healing environment
•EMPOWER consumers and their natural supports to identify strengths
•DEVELOP strategies to cope with future crisis events

Madrone House
Madrone House is a 8-bed therapeutic crisis respite program in partnership with Adventist Health. Madrone House is a unique short-term program for adults aged 18 and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis requiring 24-hour supervision, but do not meet criteria for in-patient hospitalization. Madrone House provides housing in collaboration with Adventist Health hospitals for identified patients who meet criteria for medical respite as they access services needed for their journey back into the community. This program serves adults who are being served by RCS Crisis services in Mendocino County providing an opportunity for recovery and transition back to their community after experiencing a mental health or medical crisis.

Many people in crisis who need immediate help with symptoms of a mental illness go to local hospital emergency rooms and wait for care. A psychiatric emergency can be a frightening experience for you and your family. We’re here to help guide you through difficult situations. A psychiatric emergency can include feelings of hopelessness, self-harm, harm to others, psychosis, depression, anxiety and other symptoms. When you call, you will be assessed to do one of the following:

  • Schedule an appointment for an evaluation

  • Refer you to other services

  • Have a Crisis Team Member meet and assist you

  • Direct you to go to the local emergency room.
