Substance Use Disorder Services

RCS is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of community-based services to address substance use treatment, prevention, counseling, and recovery. Our goal is to promote healthy and thriving families throughout the community by embracing a well living model. Our Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS) programs focus on promoting recovery and well-being through prevention, supportive services, and intervention. We also offer whole person care for individuals facing co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder challenges.

  • At Mendo SUDS, we offer outpatient treatment to two specific age groups: transitional aged youth (ages 16 to 25) and adults (ages 25+). Our participants engage in personalized treatment programs that incorporate both individual and group counseling sessions, education, prevention, and early intervention. Mendo SUDS follows an approach that emphasizes abstinence while also incorporating harm reduction components. This allows us to take a comprehensive approach to engagement and work collaboratively with each participant to help them achieve their goals of abstinence.

We firmly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to become their best selves, regardless of their current circumstances. We provide programs that support our community on their journey towards wellness. Currently, we utilize a variety of service modalities in our substance use programs, including Seeking Safety, Living in Balance, Matrix Relapse Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

In addition to these modalities, we also conduct educational groups that cover a wide range of topics to inform and support participants on their path to wellness. These groups may focus on subjects such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Tuberculosis (TB), the risks associated with needle sharing, transmission risks to sexual partners and infants, prevention strategies, and the development of life skills.

  • Healthy Opportunity for Mothering Experiences (H.O.M.E. ) Tule House is a residential treatment program specifically designed for mothers. This program aims to address substance use disorder in a nurturing environment that allows mothers to have their children with them. Regardless of whether their children are currently with them, in the child welfare system, or staying with other family members or friends, mothers are welcomed into the program.

Tule House is an 8-bed facility that provides non-medical services for the treatment of substance use disorder. Group and individual counseling sessions are utilized to address this issue. The residential treatment program at Tule House focuses on family-centered treatment, which means that mothers are able to bring their children to live with them at the facility. Additionally, the program involves including the mothers' self-identified family members in the treatment process. The duration of each woman's stay is determined based on medical necessity.

At Tule House, an experiential parenting program is implemented, which involves practical, real-time coaching of parenting skills. The therapeutic environment of Tule House fosters collective support among residents and promotes a cooperative living atmosphere.

Among women with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD), pregnant women require more urgent treatment services. SUDS providers serving pregnant and parenting women shall provide preference to pregnant women. Specifically, priority must be given to pregnant women who are seeking or referred to treatment in the following order:

    1. Pregnant injection substance users
    2. Pregnant substance users
    3. Parenting injection substance users
    4. Parenting substance users

RCS' Substance Use Disorder Treatment believes that personal growth and well-being are important at every stage of life. Our programs are designed to support our community on their journey towards wellness. Currently, our substance use programs utilize various service modalities, including Seeking Safety, Living in Balance, Matrix Relapse Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and more.
