PRESS RELEASE Redwood Community Services offers much needed foster care services to Humboldt County Eureka, CA
Redwood Community Services, Inc. has recently received licensure as a Foster Family Agenda in Humboldt County. RCS and the County of Humboldt worked in partnership to coordinate bringing behavioral health and now foster care services to Humboldt County, increasing the capacity to care for children and youth locally. RCS offers a continuum of programs designed to ensure the best possible outcomes for our most vulnerable populations. All RCS programs are built to empower, encourage, and sustain success by providing unconditional care and positive connections. “Humboldt County Behavioral Health is excited to partner with Redwood Community Services (RCS) to bring Therapeutic Foster Care services to our community. This level of care will meet a significant need in the foster care system and will enable us to keep more children and youth placed locally within a family setting. We welcome Redwood Community Services to Humboldt County, and greatly appreciate their dedication and passion to serve children, youth and families.” Shares Jeremy Nilsen, Humboldt County Deputy Branch Director of Child and Family Services. Therapeutic Foster homes are resource families, previously known as foster families, that have been identified to care for children with a high level of behavioral and emotional concerns, who may not be able to function in a typical family home without specialized treatment and expertise. Therapeutic Resource Parents have formal training on managing and decreasing these issues preparing the youth to be successful in a lower level of care which may include reunification. Often these homes have a pre-determined, designated intensive “package” of services that are delivered by clinical staff and the Resource Parent. “RCS mission is to empower communities for long term success. We couldn’t be more excited and appreciative for the opportunity to serve Humboldt County and continue our mission there. Our Foster Family Agency is committed to support the needs of youth in foster care and we are looking forward to reaching out and getting to know local families who are interested in becoming Resource families for the children and youth who need them most”, says Kate Napp Program Director of Foster Care at RCS.
