Holiday Wishes

Dear Community friends, colleagues and neighbors:

October 14, 2020, marks RCS 25th anniversary since RCS incorporation in 1995 by Camille Schraeder, founder of RCS.  Since its incorporation, RCS has grown to a multi-program agency serving the entire life-span for children, youth, adults and families.

Redwood Community Services started by providing foster care services in Mendocino & Lake County then expanded to provide residential care services for youth, behavioral health services for youth and now providing Crisis and adult services in our communities where we now serve Mendocino, Lake and now Humboldt counties.

Redwood Community Services was born from a vision to have a local, child focused option to serve abused and neglected children so that one day all youth living in foster care would have a place to call home. That vision led the agency for over a decade and proudly remains a cornerstone of the dedicated work we do today. Today, decades since its grassroots beginning, Redwood Community Services has established dozens of programs serving people across multiple counties and proudly employs hundreds of local community members. We are proud to be a community driven organization with a vision for a vibrant, healthy, compassionate community where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our communities, staff and Resource Parents providing foster care to our youth who have made RCS what it is today.  We are blessed and honored to serve our communities who care and want so very much to help!

We would like to take this opportunity to look back at this unprecedented year we’ve had with COVID, and the fires that have ravaged our community and the losses we’ve suffered with businesses closing and those who have lost their jobs as a result.

When we experience a season of joy, it is sometimes a season of sorrow, stress and loss for many of our children, youth, adults and families.  We at RCS are asking our local community members, businesses and partners to join us in supporting your local children, youth, and families this holiday season.  Your one-time gift can make a world of difference to someone.

Whether it be sponsoring a youth, choosing a gift from a child’s wish list or simply picking out that present that is calling you, your generous donations truly provide hope to many and help us in spreading holiday cheer to young and old.

As you know, many of the youth we serve are unable to be with family during the holidays and may even be spending this season adjusting to live in a new home.  For those who are fortunate to be with family, financial struggles can make it difficult to manage gift exchanges and spend quality time with one another.

If you or a business is interested in donating a gift or monetary donation, please visit our website at: www.redwoodcommunityservices.org where you can make an online monetary donation.  If you would like to sponsor a youth by purchasing a gift, or gathering wish lists for your business associates, please call us at (707) 467-2000 or (707) 272-0909 or email us at: WeissD@redwoodcommunityservices.org . Unwrapped gifts may be dropped off at either of our two office locations: 800 N. State Street Ukiah or: 154 S. Main Street Lakeport, CA. All donations are tax deductible.

All of t the amazing work and care could not be possible without the dedicated, mission-driven staff and Resource Parents who work for RCS. These people go anywhere, do anything, and sacrifice so much in order to meet the children and families where they are.  We are blessed and honored to serve with them each and every day. The children, youth, young adults and families we serve are often genuinely amazed and thankful that there are people in the community that care about their situation and want so much to help!

The donations that you provide during this time of year touch the hearts of our local children and youth and show them that they matter.  Many of our youth have grown up and continue to pay that generosity forward.  Thank you for teaching them that giving matters, that community matters, and that they matter.  Those lessons will never be forgotten.

Cheers to another 25 years!

Sincerely,

Victoria Kelly
