Redwood Community Services (RCS) is committed to supporting children and youth in need including unaccompanied minors currently being held in centers across the country. Currently there are a large number of youth in these centers with known connections to Northern California. In collaboration with the Alliance of Child and Family Services and state and federal partners, RCS is exploring options to identify appropriate family based settings for youth to reside during their transition to family and natural supports. This may include resource homes (formerly known as foster homes) or group settings. As more details emerge formal contracts and agreements will better outline the plan for these children and a timeline for unifying them with natural supports.
Redwood Community Services remains committed to serving these vulnerable children and youth. In preparation of a formal plan, families wishing to help are encouraged to contact the RCS Foster Family Agency office to begin the resource parent approval process.
