Over 250 Meals Served By RCS During Thankfulness Feast
Last week, RCS completed its annual Thankfulness Feast meal at its Youth Resource Center locations in Ukiah and Lakeport.
RCS served 268 meals between our two locations to kids, families and community members in need. We received a tremendous response to our online campaign, raising nearly $500 in a crowdfunding campaign. Special thanks to Marylin Wakefield whose generous donation really kicked off our campaign.
RCS staff at the Harbor (in Lakeport) and the Arbor (in Ukiah) served food for three hours on Thursday afternoon. Other RCS staff took time to come help serve food or cooked and donated food for the meals at our two locations.
Staff cooked turkey, ham, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole and donated pies, buns, and other food for the meals — which were served to-go style. This was an incredible event for us. It was busy, bustling and full of laughter and community building.
The last part is important — events like this are how we build a better community. By making sure our communities have places to go for a nice meal around the holidays is so incredibly important, especially with rising food prices.
It’s just one meal, but it meant a lot to the people we served and it means a lot to everyone who took the time to contribute to the event.
