Teaches exploitation prevention from all forms of exploitation including human trafficking in Schools and Youth Service Programs
The purpose of the Empower Youth Program is to empower students with strategies to stay safe from exploitation. Empathy (understanding and actively engaging another’s suffering) is the solution to issues of exploitation, from forms as familiar as bullying in a school’s hallways to more extreme acts like human trafficking.
The prevention approach workshops (part 1 & 2) will include:
• Learning how to cultivate Empathy for those around you
• Learning how to identify the most current disguises being use to take advantage of youth
• Learning how to navigate through the most vulnerable areas in your life
• Media teen showcase led by youth who speak from their experiences of learning to navigate
• Tips and strategies to create you own personal safety plan
• Learning how to use the New Empower Youth prevention program online version
This training is intended for those that work with children and youth within the child welfare system or are at-risk of entering. This includes child welfare workers, resource parents, youth sports coaches, youth mentors, teachers and volunteers/staff working with this population.
