Living in an Anxious World - Substance Use Impact on Families by Dr. Ira Chasnoff

Registration: Registration (gotowebinar.com)

Trainer: Dr. Ira Chasnoff

Overview: The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented level of generalized anxiety across communities and states. Local prevention and intervention programs find themselves facing escalating rates of substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, and children affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol and drugs, most notably as documented by the rapidly rising rates of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders across the nation. As a follow-up from our December 2020 conference, Dr. Chasnoff and two members of NTI Upstream’s training faculty, Dr. Christine Schmidt and Dr. Amy Groessl, will examine the effects of isolation and rising anxiety in Central California and its impact on family functioning and, most especially, its effects on service providers as they work to prevent and intervene in child abuse and neglect related to substance abuse in pregnancy and in the family.
