A Holiday Letter

Dear Community Friends, Colleagues, and Neighbors:

What a year 2021 has been for all of us! The beginning of 2020 was not the year any of us would have imagined as we look back. It was a year stricken by a global pandemic, economic disturbance, & natural disasters that continued into 2021. With the many unprecedented events and feelings of uncertainty at times, it was a time where we leaned on each other, put our heads together and held to our mission and values to empower our communities for long-term success.

These past few years have been full of changes. We safeguarded our clients and employees by implementing safety precautions and changed procedures as mandates changed. We transitioned office staff to working from home and hybrid schedules. Before COVID, Telehealth services were limited. With this pandemic, the method of delivering care via Telehealth has become preferable in some cases to keep everyone safe. We worked closely with our partners and were able to continue to meet the dynamic needs of our community and clients. Although RCS has undergone these changes, our commitment to our employees, our partners and our communities has always remained unchanged.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our communities, employees, and Resource Families who have made RCS what it is today. We are blessed and honored to serve our communities who care and want so very much to help!

Often times we experience a season of joy while others experience a season of sorrow, stress, and loss for many of our children, youth, adults, and families. This year is no different. We at RCS are once again asking our local community members, businesses, and partners to join us in supporting our local children, youth, and families this holiday season. Your gift can make a world of difference to someone.

Whether it be sponsoring a youth, choosing a gift from a child’s wish list, or simply picking out that present that is calling you, your generous donations truly provide hope to many and help us in spreading holiday cheer to young and old.

As you know, many of the children, youth, and young adults we serve are unable to be with family during the holidays and may even be spending this season adjusting to life in a new home. For those who are fortunate to be with family, financial struggles can make it difficult to manage gift exchanges and spending quality time with one another.

If you or a business is interested in donating a gift or monetary donation, please visit our website at: https://www.classy.org/give/358575/#!/donation/checkout where you can make an online monetary donation. If you would like to sponsor a youth by purchasing a gift ($50 in value), or gathering wish lists for your business associates, please call us at (707) 467-2000 or email us at: SnydeS@redwoodcommunityservices.org as well we purchasing directly from our Amazon wish list https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/317AVGELR0WRL?ref_=wl_share Unwrapped gifts may be dropped off at any of our office locations: 800 N. State Street Ukiah: 154 S. Main Street Lakeport: or 310 3rd Street, Suite C, Eureka, CA no later than December 10th. All donations are tax deductible.

All of the incredible service could not be possible without the dedicated, mission-driven employees and Resource Families who work for, and with RCS. These people go anywhere, do anything, and sacrifice so much in order to meet the needs of our children, youth, adults, and families where they are. We are blessed and honored to serve with them each and every day. The children, youth, young adults, and families we serve are often genuinely amazed and thankful that there are people in the community that care about their situation and want so much to help!

The donations that you provide during this time of year touch the hearts of those we serve and show them that they matter. Many of our children and youth have grown up and continue to pay that generosity forward within our community. Thank you for teaching them that giving matters, that community matters, and that they matter. Those lessons will never be forgotten.

While these past years have tested the strength and patience of all of us, we have emerged stronger. I am so proud and humbled by our team and communities for the agility, grit, and commitment they continually show. I am grateful for our communities continued support during these difficult times and look forward to the opportunities to build and grow together.

With Gratitude,

Victoria Kelly
