National Adoption Month: Meet the Nobles

Meet the Nobles! These two smiling faces are William “Bill” and Barbara Nobles and they are about to be smiling even wider and brighter. You see, Bill and Barbara have been Foster Parents (now known as Resource Parents) with RCS for 11 wonderful years and are now becoming ADOPTIVE parents!

Over the past decade, these two beautiful people have opened their hearts and their home to 19 foster youth (almost all of whom were teenagers), and have supported many of those youth in their ability to reunify with their birth families.

Bill and Barbara worked tirelessly to support the youth in their care. Though reunification is the goal, it isn’t always a possibility. In those cases, the Nobles were able to continue providing support to youth and help them move on to transitional housing programs which support older teens in becoming independent young adults.

About two and a half years ago Bill and Barbara were ready and willing to accept another youth into their home. With good intentions and open arms they welcomed a very special 11 year-old boy into their family. They wanted to give him a place where he could feel safe; a place where he felt he belonged and where he could grow.

Like the youth before him, they showed him where his room would be, introduced him to the dogs, and helped him to settle in. Bill and Barbara were prepared to help him get to wherever his next step would be- little did they know that his next step would be staying right there with them!

On top of everyday family life, the Noble's have spent the past year completing all the necessary steps to become pre-adoptive parents. With love, perseverance, patience, and a much needed sense of humor, Bill and Barbara were able to submit their paperwork in September. Only one step remains...to stand in front of a judge, hand in hand with their son, and make it official.

Please join all of us at RCS in celebrating these wonderful people and congratulating them on their beautiful family! November is National Adoption Month and we could not be happier to have been a part of the Noble’s journey.

Making A Difference...

An old man was walking on the beach one morning after a storm. In the distance, he could see someone moving like a dancer. As he came closer, he saw that it was a young woman picking up starfish and gently throwing them into the ocean. “Young lady, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?”

“The sun is up, and the tide is going out, and if I do not thrown them in they will die,” she said.

“But young lady, do you not realize that there are many miles of beach and thousands of starfish? You cannot possibly make a difference.”

The young woman listened politely, then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea.

“It made a difference for that one.”
