KZYX Interview: Cold Weather Shelter Opens in Ukiah
The inland winter shelter at 1045 South State Street in Ukiah opened a few days early this year, thanks to freezing temperatures at the end of October. KZYX stopped by Monday morning to talk with Sage Wolf, the homeless services manager for Redwood Community Services Building Bridges project. Last summer, 1045 South State Street opened up as a homeless resource center, offering laundry and showers, counseling, and other services to homeless people during the day. It’s scheduled to offer 46 beds a night until May first, but Wolf is cautiously optimistic about efforts to increase the number of beds and lengthen the amount of time the shelter is open.
