Back to School Bash a Smashing Success
Before school started this year, Redwood Community Services, along with the Alex Rorabaugh Center and the River Church teamed up for an event on Aug. 21.
The event offered haircuts, food, backpacks, school supplies, gift cards and bikes.
Food for 800 people was served during the event by Big Earls BBQ and over 400 backpacks were handed out, nearly all donated by Costco Ukiah.
In addition, 40 bikes were raffled off and over 150 kids got hair cuts.
It was an amazing event that showcased how a little generosity, time and planning can go a really long ways toward a brighter outcome for some local kids.
Having the right supplies and a bit of an ease on the financial for families is a big deal and we were glad to be a part of this very important event.
Way to make a difference, Ukiah! And a big shoutout to our RCS staff who got donations and helped make this event happen.
